View this email in your browser Pogue Family Missions is proud to have an amazing team of people that make church builds, conferences and outreaches happen. Over the next few weeks, we want to take the time to specifically introduce you to the team of people working in Chiapas, Mexico. See below to meet our first team members, Pastor Carlos Tovilla and his wife Barbara, and to see how COVID-19 has effected upcoming events and the people of Chiapas.  COVID-19: Prayers for Chiapas COVID-19 continues to grow and effect more people each day and as we have seen in our own lives, it takes many resources to fight against it. Please pray for the people of Chiapas, especially the indigenous people, as COVID-19 continues to spread. Most indigenous people do not have access to basic medical resources or hygiene products and would be tremendously effected if the virus reaches them. Pray that the Lord would protect them, provide resources when needed and use the church to bring people together.  During this time, we will continue to build churches in Chiapas without groups from the United States. In addition, our clinics and other ministries will continue to run throughout the duration of the pandemic. We are believing Romans 8:28 over our ministries during this time and trust that the Lord has everything under control! We know that will meet the needs of the people of Chiapas as well as the ministry taking place there. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 NIV "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 NIV Meet the Team: Pastor Carlos and Barabara Pastor Carlos is the President of Iglesia Jesus Cristo Sobre La Roca and oversees all of the churches in Chiapas. In addition, he is the pastor of Torre Fuerte in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas. He works hard to take care of his church congregation and make sure the other churches in his area have all they need to be successful.  Pastor Carlos's wife, Barbara, makes sure the grounds are taken care of and ready for teams when they arrive. She is overseeing Casa de Esperanza and spends time each week handing out food to families in a local village and putting on a children's program with church members from Torre Fuerte. We are so thankful for the work that Pastor Carlos and Barbara do!  Iglesia Sobre La Roca Convention POSTPONED In January, we took a team to Chenalhó, Chiapas on a work trip to refinish the outdoor amphitheater in preparation for the Iglesia Sobre la Roca Convention. The convention was going to take place in just a few short weeks but due to COVID-19, the convention has been postponed to April 2021.  Awaken 2020 Women's Conference: POSTPONED In light of the growing national concerns and precautions, many organizations are taking as it pertains to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and upon the recommendation of local health officials as well as the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, we have decided to postpone the Awaken Conference. We plan to reschedule the conference and will update you via email, social media, and our website at JudyPogue.com. However, registration costs to this year’s Awaken Conference will automatically be refunded in the next several weeks. For many, the spread of this virus has caused fear and anxiety. Yet we are grateful that the Bible tells us, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that you would sense God’s peace in the midst of these difficult circumstances. This does not mean we should be careless or reactionary but rather walk in wisdom as we serve the Lord and our community in a way that demonstrates our trust in God and our love for people.
