Happy November! We can't believe we are approaching the end of 2021. We have a few serving opportunities coming up, so be sure to read the whole newsletter to see how you can be involved.
As we enter the giving season, remember that we can be a blessing to the people around us! Just like the widow's offering, God looks at our heart to determine the size of our giving. Whether you give your time, money, or ability, big or small, God sees your sacrifice and will bless you in return!
Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, 'I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on." Mark 12:41-44 NLT
Teams Are Back!
We just recently hosted our first team in Chiapas since COVID-19 began! We want to thank Engage Hope and Prestonwood Baptist Church and the group of men that came to serve the community of Lobolaltic, Chiapas, Mexico. The pastor of this community has been ministering there for 17 years. He was so overwhelmed by their new church building. We know that God will continue to move in this area of Chiapas, and many people will come to know Him through this church for many years to come. Please continue to pray for the community of Lobolaltic and the ministry they are doing.
We're Gearing Up For Christmas!
We're so excited to be in-person for our Christmas celebration in Chiapas this year. Each year, we take the children of Casa Hogar Alegre shopping and throw a big Christmas party for them, showering them with clothing, toys, and special treats.
In addition, we spend time in the mountains of Chenalhó with the indigenous children and give out 500 bags of fruit and candy. Over the last few years, there has been an increase in health problems in Chiapas due to a high sugar intake. This year, we will be filling the bags given to the children in Chenlahó with sugar-free candies and small toys. This is an excellent alternative to regular candy, and the toys will be very exciting for the children! Since finding sugar-free alternatives in Mexico is challenging, and so more people can be a part of the Christmas giving to Chenalhó, we have added items to an Amazon Wish List that we would like to purchase for the bags. If you would like to help with this project, click the link below. All items purchased will be shipped directly to our partner church in Mexico.
Men's Church Build: December 5 - 10, 2021
Men, join us for a church build in the mountains of Chiapas. We have a few spots open on this construction trip and we need your help to fill it! What better way to give this Christmas season than to give of your time to bless a community in need of a church.
Work Trip: January 31 - February 5, 2022
The dormitory facilities in Chenalhó are in need of maintenance (minor repairs such as plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.) Join us for this work trip in Chenalhó to help get the dormitories ready for our future teams!
The cost of each trip is $275 per person, plus airfare. Specific flight details will be given after signing up for the trip. Please let Kari Payne know if you are interested in joining one of these teams.
